Deadline: October 31, 2017
Lead Editor: Tim Rohr
MiFiWriters reopened our submission window for the 2017 short story anthology, Double Take!
Description: This year’s theme explores the many “faces” of masquerade: disguise, deception, false pretenses, pretending to be someone else or situations that are not at all what they seem. Create a world or characters that mislead and surprise us. Dig deep below the surface to find a core that is completely unexpected. Humorous or deeply macabre, we seek the ultimate “a ha!” moment when the truth shatters everything we thought we knew — leaving us shaken.
Stories up to 12,000 words will be considered in the speculative fiction genre. Submit your best work to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include a short message that includes your full contact information, a statement of why your story fits our current theme, and a short paragraph outlining your writing credits, if applicable. New writers are encouraged to submit! Payment is one cent per word up to $50.
We strongly encourage you to review one, or all, of our previous four anthologies to get a better understanding of the type and style of work we seek. You will see that our tastes are eclectic, but sophisticated. Previous anthologies are available in our store or through Amazon. We encourage writers to subscribe to our free newsletter for tips, advice, and information on upcoming events.
